Just a few weeks ago, Rui sat down with Indie Garage. Now, Rui takes the spotlight with Auto Service World Conversations to get the word out there in the form of a podcast. 

ASW Conversations chats with Rui about opening the new bay doors to My Neighbourhood Mechanic. Host Adam Malik gets Rui to open up about his new auto mechanic shop, the legacy he brings with him, and his connection with the wider Toronto community. 

MNM officially opened in August. With so much in store, the new shop still feels surreal. But Rui says we’re off to a great start, with support from local businesses and dedicated clients. Rui assures that his mentor's legacy, Josie, lives on in the new shop. 

In a time when condos and highrises are filling the streets of Toronto, Rui and our team were able to carve out a spot in the community for the new shop. The biggest aim is to keep that neighbourhood connection strong. Rui also looks to the future—to grow his shop and improve the profession at large. And the best way for a Toronto mechanic to do that is to operate from within the community itself.

“Our main thing is to stay in the neighbourhood, stay in this community. We have spent the better part of 19 to 20 years with Master Mechanic in that community- and I just love it. I love the people, I love the atmosphere, I love our customers. So, we don’t want to go anywhere else.”
